Vocalist James Hetfield Signs in Alcohol Rehabilitation, Metallica Cancel Concert - Metallica heavy metal band canceled its concerts in Australia and New Zealand. The concert was part of a series of WorldWired tours. The two countries' trips were canceled after Metallica's main vocalist, James Hetfield , had to undergo alcohol dependency rehabilitation. "As you know, our brother James experienced ups and downs due to addictions for years," said three personnel Metallica, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammet, and Robert Trujillo in a statement written on the official Metallica website, Friday (9/27/2019) .

"Unfortunately, now he has to go back to a rehabilitation program to overcome his addiction," they continued. In addition to the Metallica website, cancellations were also announced through the band's social media account. The tour was originally due to start on Perth on 17 October and end in Auckland, New Zealand, on 2 November.

"We will really return to visit as soon as our health and schedule allow. We will inform you as soon as possible, "continued Metallica. Lars Ulrich and friends said they were very sad because they had disappointed fans in both countries. "Especially to our loyal fans who have gone far to watch our concert," they said.

"We hope for your understanding and support of James and always, we thank you for being part of the Metallica family," said the band from Los Angeles, USA. Metallica said the tickets that had been purchased for concerts in Australia and New Zealand would get a full refund.

James Hetfield's problem with alcoholism is clearly illustrated in the documentary film Some Kind of Monster released in 2004. The problem was also stated in Metallica's album, St. Anger . Shortly after the film was released Hetfield entered a rehabilitation facility. In an interview on the Joe Rogan Experience program in 2017, Hetfield claimed to be clean from alcoholism for 15 years.
